Learn how to pair, adjust, and fix your Echelon Bluetooth Resistance Controller. Step-by-step guide for quick resistance changes during indoor cycling workouts.
Quick Answer
Pair the Bluetooth Resistance Controller by pressing the toggle button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes, then select it in the Echelon Fit app under Bike Settings > Accessories.
Why Use the Bluetooth Resistance Controller?
This accessory mounts to your bike's handlebars and lets you adjust resistance without reaching for the console or app screen. It's especially useful during high-intensity intervals when you need to change levels quickly while keeping your hands on the bars.
The controller works with any Echelon Connect Bike and syncs via Bluetooth to the Echelon Fit app. It does not require batteries or charging—it uses a coin cell battery that is replaceable. If your controller stops responding, a simple battery swap often resolves the issue.
Common Limitations to Know
The controller only adjusts resistance levels; it does not control other bike functions like cadence or incline. It also requires the Echelon Fit app to be open and connected to your bike. If the app is not running or the bike is not paired, the controller will not work.
Bluetooth range is limited to about 30 feet (10 meters). If you move the bike or the controller away from your device, the connection may drop. Keep your phone or tablet within range during rides.
Setup and Use Steps
- Install the Battery: Remove the battery cover on the back of the controller. Insert a CR2032 coin cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Replace the cover until it clicks. Check that the battery is fresh; a low battery is the most common cause of connection failures.
- Mount the Controller on Your Bike: Slide the controller onto the handlebar mount bracket (located near the stem). Press down until it clicks into place. Ensure it is secure and does not rotate freely. If the controller feels loose, push it fully onto the bracket until you hear a click. A loose mount can cause intermittent connection drops.
- Put the Controller in Pairing Mode: Press and hold the toggle button for about 3 seconds. The LED on the controller will start flashing blue, indicating it is discoverable. If the LED does not flash, the battery may be dead or installed backward. Try a fresh battery.
- Pair with the Echelon Fit App: Open the Echelon Fit app on your phone or tablet. Go to the menu (three lines) > Bike Settings > Accessories. Tap 'Bluetooth Resistance Controller' in the list. The LED on the controller will stop flashing and stay solid blue. Make sure your device's Bluetooth is turned on. If the controller does not appear, close the app and reopen it while the controller is in pairing mode.
- Use the Controller During a Ride: Once paired, press the toggle up to increase resistance or down to decrease resistance. A single click changes by one level. Hold the toggle for 2–3 seconds to jump three levels. Hold for 10 seconds to go to the maximum or minimum. The controller only works when the app is in a ride or workout mode. It will not respond on the home screen or in settings.
- Troubleshoot Connection Issues: If the controller stops responding, first check the battery. If the battery is fine, remove the controller from the bike and re-pair it: hold the toggle for 3 seconds to enter pairing mode, then tap 'Forget This Device' in your phone's Bluetooth settings before pairing again in the app. Interference from other Bluetooth devices (e.g., wireless headphones) can cause dropouts. Move your phone closer to the controller or turn off unused Bluetooth devices.
Product Facts
